Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – a better game

After so many years of losing increasingly more and more fans, Assassin’s Creed series record, finally, a breakthrough.

Syndicate is a better game than Unity. This is clear. It is better optimized, looks better, but does not solve all the problems that brought the series to this point. Even so, it is impossible to not give a high note to this game. Before continuing this article, if you have not played any title of the series and you would like to try soon, I need to mention the fact that in this article you may have some spoilers.

With the death of Desmond, the series has lost an element that made a connection between all games, this character being present even in the first game. It became obvious that one of the most serious problems of the game is the lack of successful characters. With Ezio’s exit from the scene, the series has not had a protagonist that had gained the sympathy of the fans. Now, as if they would like to legitimize the new characters, Ubisoft reminds us several times of Ezio and Altair. Connor is hardly mentioned, and Edward and Haytham are mentioned in some descriptions.

As you may know, in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate you can play with the twins Evie and Jacob Frye. Obviously, the two have different characters and different modes of action: Jacob is impulsive, while Evie prefers to be quieter, acting secretly.

If there is one of these two characters closer to the typology of ideal assassin in this game, is most certainly Evie. Jacob, on the other hand, sometimes gives the impressions that he chose the wrong side in this war.

The only problem that Evie has, from my personal point of view, is that during fights she is not doing as well as her brother. To grow the two characters, you will have some skills to unlock: some of them are specific to Jacob, some of them are specific to Evie, while others are shared. During the game, some will become extremely important because you will have to deal with some enemies increasingly sophisticated.

And weapons will play an important role in the fight against the Templars, but do not expect a huge variety. Regarding weapons for direct combat with enemies, you can use three types: Kukri (a Nepalese knife), special cane that conceals a sword and boxing. That’s all. We do not have the diversity that we used to have in the past.

There is more work to do until the series will reach the level of popularity from the past. But after Unity, we can not but notice that Syndicate is a step forward. Characters, with flaws and qualities are better than in the previous games, the story is interesting, and the gameplay, superior in every way.
